Anything from the outside edge of the penalty area line is considered ‘within the box’.
Not sure if this one was or wasn’t tbh. It’s a bit like ruling someone offside because VAR reckons their sleeve to be 3mm ahead of play..

Agreed; Pogba is running, his trailing leg clips the defender and therefore deviates into the back of his calf. If the defender wasn't there, then that would not have happened. Clear penalty, even if the ref had not given it, VAR would. Defender at fault for being too tight.

You explained why it isn't in the previous post about Pogba. Apart from being outside the box, it was a foul on the defender if anything. This thing about deliberately stretching a leg out on order to instigate contact has to be stopped.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 yearsComment

Luiz right leg was in front of Pogba and planted in the ground and it wasn't even the leg he was challenging with. Pogba hits his leg, how on earth is that Luiz's fault? Its absolutely not a penalty imo and that front replay proves that for me. I can't believe its actually up for debate on here.Agreed; Pogba is running, his trailing leg clips the defender and therefore deviates into the back of his calf. That's not what happened though. Both players were running and Pogba moves his trailing leg to the side to make contact with the defender. Kicks the defender, basically. Then he goes down. I can't believe people buy it, and especially the officials.Agreed; Pogba is running, his trailing leg clips the defender and therefore deviates into the back of his calf. We've gone from needing an attacking player to be impeded to qualify for a penalty, to any contact instigated by a defender being a penalty, to any contact whether made by a defender or an attacker being a penalty. We literally have weekly examples of attackers kicking defenders and being given free goals for it
It's a ludicrous situation that's completely ****ing up the integrity and competitiveness of the competition.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 yearsComment

Yep
He has clearly either coached himself or been coached as to how to make it look like he has been tripped. Slow motion reveals it all.
VAR supposed to eliminate the howler. That was a howler.Modifying post.Comment
