England were poor today. Didn’t create much of note bar their goal. Italy totally deserve this, no question.
    Are we winning?

100% MOTM. He ran the game. Influenced everything.

Absolutely gutted for Saka though. Tough for a young kid to deal with that.

Rashford is an experienced player, albeit a massively average one. But yes, the lack of options was pretty ridiculous. No stevie, 'lamps', gazza or Scholes players in Central midfield who would be almost bankers. Sterling is an attacker but can't kick a ball properly. and your second pen is taken by a centre back. Two players who are essentially young, experienced, bit-part squaddies should be on the reserve list.

Harsh having a 19 year old step up and take the last one, not sure who else I would have picked but surely Sterling as an experienced player and forward should be taking one (although to be honest I'm not sure I'd have backed him to score) , also would have expected Grealish to take one, there's a lack of options to be honest, fair play to the guys who step up. I feel sorry for guys like Rashford and Sancho who are just brought on to take a pen as they are on a hiding to nothing and the pressure on them much be huge.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Should always have your best penalty takers taking the later pens (in the mandatory 5) when there is more pressure than at the start of the shootout, not leave it to inexperienced novices.

Aye. Very promising future he has. Hope he doesn't have this penalty stuff rammed down his throat. Rashford as well.

Massive turnabout for Italy and fair play to Mancini.

                    Proper team there

                        Italy are crafty
                        Mancini is crafty

Alan Shearer is paid circa 400k a year to deliver such footballing insight

Nah. Disagree. Best penalty takers first. No point saving your bankers til lthe end if you don't get there because others have missed.

Southgate just revealed that the penalty-taking order was something he decided in training, which is pretty shocking.
