They were both miles ahead of the defenders when the ball was played to the wide player, and then when it was crossed, Havertz had got behind the ball, but the other fella hadn’t. Both around the edge of the 6 yard box. A nightmare for defenders and goalkeepers.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I was thinking about the lot of games without consequence comment a bit more.Originally posted by Pepe79 View Post36 games just to eliminate only a third of the pack though.
It makes for a lot of games that aren’t really of much consequence.
You can can qualify for the knock out stage without winning a single game
, as Portugal did last time.
It’s a crap format.
I think that with one game to go, every single team still has a chance for qualifying for the next round.
That should make the coming week quite interesting.Oh I don't know.

Agree 100%. This rule makes the tournament more interesting, not less. There are basically no dead rubbers this way.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI was thinking about the lot of games without consequence comment a bit more.

England and Scotland's group is a case in point.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostAgree 100%. This rule makes the tournament more interesting, not less. There are basically no dead rubbers this way.
England draw against the Czechs, both go through and the other game is reduced to a dead rubber.
With this system, both Scotland and Croatia have still got a great chance of going through. Either wins, and they're in I reckon. Lose, and they're out of course.
It's like a pseudo knock out round already.Oh I don't know.

Definitely, the initial scenario has played out in countless World Cups.
As it stands all four teams in with a chance and no certainty on who finishes in what position. All to play for, and then into knockout format.Modifying post.

Hopefully others will follow that path (other than than those badly advised like Duncan) & then come back t o the prem

I think that every team can still qualify going in to the final group game backs up my point though, or at least why I think it’s a weak format.
You can lose your first 2 and turn up in game 3 and qualify. Or you can qualify without winning at all.
It’s a lot of games to cull just 8 teams. All that football and 2 thirds of the teams will survive anyway. The group stage is the biggest phase of the tournament, if should be far more decisive than that imo..

I think what they have done is good but I don't see either staying overseas for long. Sancho will probably move to the PL this summer and I suspect Bellingham might move back in a year or so, I could be wrong though. It would be nice if a few top players stayed in other leagues for extended periods
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You can't come out with **** like that without justifying it.Originally posted by Tribute View PostWatching England is like supporting a mid-table championship team. Piss poor for large parts and never as good as they think they are.
LFC or nowt for me. Sick of cockney ****** England fans and constant fighting, pissed up arseholes. Scots and Irish party proper like, always good natured…
Are all England fans Cockney ******s? From what I've seen your typical England fan comes from Peterborough/Coventry/York/Chelsea/Stoke/Ipswich/Bath/Swindon/Northampton/Carlisle/Middlesbrough and any other place that may or may not have a decent club side. But to label them cockney is a bit weak

Yeah, there is a certain amount of strange scouse snoberry with a small minority of our fans (and quite possibly fans of lots of other northern clubs - I dunno) around people from the south.Originally posted by Norbs View PostYou can't come out with **** like that without justifying it.

It's hypocritical at best. And you're right to call it out.
Some happy go lucky Irish people who may or may not love football..
