Based on results and actual goals I'd say we are in a similar place, You could argue this season playing a much improved Chelsea so early in the season has been one of our 4 toughest games already.

I can see we need to score more goals through midfield, but hopefully VVD will chip in with his 5 or so, Matip is good for a couple, Trent a couple. It would be good to see more goals from midfield.

I dont see this 'massive drop off'. You could also argue we look more solid at the back this season.

It is going to be battle this season, for who ever wins the League, there wont be a team going on 15 game winning runs like we did when we won the league and pushed City.

Aye.....don't normally give two ****s about the internationals, but at times it was a real backs to the wall, dogged fight which can give the heart a few extra beats, so was a pretty disappointing end.

Of course, that ref was truly incompetent, and if not that, probably just part of the 'make Ronaldo happen' campaign. Should have walked in the first few mins for swinging at O'Shea when play was stopped (theatrics aside) and I suspect there's only a handful of players that would similarly be allowed to act in such a way. Everyone else would probably walk, especially with VAR nowadays.
Fact it wasn't reviewed in the 5mins it took to determine the pen decision, which was bull**** anyway, says it all.
Then add in the equalizer. Came from the next phase of play after a ridiculous FK was awarded. Of course, time was running out, Ronaldo needed to get his goal so the ref was more than willing to provide the opportunity. Then the winner, in the 96th minute, after the allotted 5mins had been played.......good header mind you, but proper shafted considering you'd expect the whistle to be blown after the initial clearance.

Can consider themselves extremely unfortunate not to come away with at least the point
