I'm not arsed either way I personally have very little interest in football apart from Liverpool, just thought it was a bit of an odd "i'm right and you're wrong" statement. It's cool seeing how much it means to the players and fans etc. Very pleased for Sadio

It wasn't helped by the **** pitch and Egypt's negative tactics but the football was objectively ****. Most international football is, save the odd goal fest tournament every once in a while.

Ah, in that case then it's fine, maybe it's just a case of taking posts in a football forum too seriously. In that case I apologise.

I seriously did enjoy some of the quarter final games, semi final and the final. It's typical of tournament football, the level of intensity went up, but then players being tired and playing on sub standard pitches, made for a few technical errors in games. I even thought Mo was not very good in some of the games.
        Are we winning?

Egypt didn't really have the quality, so they had to play like this, which they did to get to the final, so they weren't too bad in the end.

Agree, pitch, then quality was up and down due to fatigue etc, but the games were enjoyable to me. You could not criticise the competitiveness.

            Aren't we all

No need to apologise. It's cool that you enjoy watching it From what people have said it sounds like Messi would've struggled if he played for Egypt?

He was isolated, but I sometimes feel that the comparison to Messi doesn't help him, as if he could have carried the team which he didn't, it's their defence and stubbornness (and organisation) which did.

The final was stymied (!) by the same issues loads of international tournament finals suffer from. Fear of defeat.

Yeah I think Senegal are a decent international side.

Egypt were objectively **** though. Laughably bad at times. I defy anyone to watch them play and not get bored.

You've got to admit some of these were pretty funny:

                      Amazing from start to finish

The referee and the flick/shoulder barge retribution are my faves

He's in an almost impossible position, the football they play isn't the best and I guess that must be frustrating, but the got to the final of the ACN playing that way so they will think that they have a chance at the next tournament too. He can't retire as he is their best player (and captain) if he does it would be seen as denying them the chance of winning it because of his own/ his club's ambitions.

Personally I think he'll still be playing international football until he's at least 34/35
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Messi has hardly carried Argentina to glory either to be fair.
