I would imagine every game yesterday had one or two similar incidents. It's a crazy decision but in this instance I don't think it's any ref bias, just poor officiating.

Ours would have been the only on referred to VAR though & that **** Tierney played the clear and obvious card rather than ensure the right decision was made at a potential game changing moment.

Maybe he was trying to ‘balance the books’ on the soft pen? Either way it is wrong and VAR should make decisions on individual merit.

I don't think it's bias it's a poor decision from the referee and **** rules for VAR that mean the wrong decision can't be overturned. - I posted in the match thread that the only way it is overturned by VAR is if it turned out there was no contact. Once VAR establishes that there was a foul it's job is done, whether it is no card, a yellow or a red is subjective so up to the on field official. There should be some mechanism whereby the VAR official can say I think you got that wrong take a look at the monitor, but in the FA's mind that would be re-refereeingthe game which they don't want.
