Because he came up through their academy, been playing first team football for them for 8 years, often their best player and then got the club an astronomical fee which could help set them up for years. They should be singing his praises.

Just seems unnecessary to me, don't necessarily have to celebrate ex players like we do, but to sing about him in a match he has nothing to do with makes them come across as picks imo.
