I’ve watched all the angles of the Alvarez double hit, and I still can’t see it.

There is some reference to in-ball technology detecting it, which is possible with the UEFA system for automatic offsides. So I thought that was it. Then I see Bellingham and Mbappe were claiming they saw it was a double hit from the halfway line.

That’s BS - no way they see that from 45 yards, if the ref, assistant, keeper and the fans were happy to move on, it should have stood.

I think it does come off the left foot when it's kicked, so I guess it's technically the correct decision, but I also don't think it should have been called, because it's such an minor thing and clearly unintentional so the punishment is wildly disproportionate to the consequences of the kick and the wider situation.

I very much doubt it’s getting called if it’s Mbappe. If his other foot touches it then it is very minimal- and not enough to decide 210 mins of football.
