Is it time for Fifa to step in regarding shin pads and their protection requirements? Saw over the weekend Lewis Holtby get caught by a slightly high boot (no force behind it, but caught him on the lower shin) and as he was wearing one of those stupidly miniscule shin pads, the other players stud has torn open his shin in a deep, wide cut.

But, if he had a shin pad on of normal size, or even a slightly reduced size, he would have been absolutely fine.

I've mentioned this a few times.
Absolutely no advantage in using smaller shin pads, and seriously detrimental for player and team.
We should insist that all of our players were a full sized shin pad.
