The poor bloke who was getting the **** kicked out of him was somebody's father - or somebody's son. What would your reaction be if it was your father that was set upon by these thugs and one of them was accidentally shot by a policeman trying to save your fathers life?

That's a fair point (not the emotionally-charged rhetoric but the suggestion that the bloke's death was accidental) but to me it's nothing like the same as saying that he got what he deserved.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Apparently the far right supporters, i.e Nazis, are well organised and seek out vulnerable opposition supporters. A mate of mine from Belfast lives in Paris and was at the game where the shooting ocurred. He maintains that this is an increasingly common occurrence wher the PSG Nazi minority attack black or or other ethnic minorities and kick the living daylights out them. They will kill someone soon (if they haven't already).

I cannot mourn the passing of a Nazi.

It's not easy I agree. However, if you give someone a label, it's much easier to dehumanize them. Er, isn't that what Nazis do?

PSG have long had a reputation in France as being nothing but a bunch of scum sucking Nazis. A lot of their ultras double up as facist bootboys for the Front National.

By all the accounts I read in the French media the shooting was an accident, the cop was trying to shoot in the air and actually hit a couple of people. One was unlucky enough to die.

Until the French get serious about the endemic racism at PSG, banning people for life, prosecuting racist chants or attacks etc, this kind of thing will happen again.

Still, if the bullet had to go in the wrong direction it's just as well it didn't hit a decent human being.
