    How many goals did Sissoko and Alonso provide? I think the key for a CM pairing is to get the ball, keep the ball and distribute it to players in good positions. A goal threat is handy, but I think a solid two in midfield allows you to play wingers like Christiano Ronaldo with a greater level of freedom, thus increasing the teams overall goal threat.

      I don't percieve him as a defensive midfielder though, in the way that Manure fans hope. The guy will never be a tough tackler (unlike the last player to wear the 16) and a midfield containing Carrick & Scholes will get ripped apart.

      I'd always want a tougher guy alongside him, he's is a good player and elegant admittedly, but for

        Are you sure that Merk is not referring to Mercedes Cars? Ferdinand and co may be ****s, but I don't see them as Lee Bowyer types.

            Does anybody have access (or post a link) to the total transfer fees spent by premiership clubs, since the start of the premiership? Net spend would be interesting too.
