Apparently, Doug's gonna give it a year, and then move on/croak.

Thus, O'Neill must feel that stciking up with him for a year will be worth it in the long-run.

The BBC say that all 4 potential investors want him as manager so I think he feels that it is a no loose situation. He wants to get back into football and Villa have the potential to do much better than they are and have people who may give him money waiting in the wings. If things go wrong he can blame the instability at the club.

There are some decent young players at Villa and the makings of a decent defence so, if/when O'Neill signs I think they will improve a lot.
