It was a lucky strinke that sailed in. Fair play to him for trying but now the balls are so light and swerve so much it encourages players to take pot shots from all over the pitch.
Long range shooting is so overrated. It's spectacular but too dependent on luck to qualify. I much preferred Diego Milito's goal for Zaragoza against Osasuna the other day..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Of course, this is the best goal ever...... and I know at least one peron here will agree
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

great goal, but he only had a couple of pie shops to get passed. Not sure he could have done that in the modern gameOriginally posted by MrMichael View PostOf course, this is the best goal ever...... and I know at least one peron here will agree

Nah, nads to that, you can only play to your own time, developed now Maradonna (or any of the other greats) would have been just as great, and still done things like that. He might have been hacked at the start though....
As Matt Taylor, with all due respect to him, showed with his goal, today's balls etc make distance and power shots a completely different skill these days. But few players today would be able to match a player like the Maradonna of '86 with the ball at their feet.Last edited by MrMichael; 13-12-06, 03:15 PM.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

I agree. But to my eyes it's a far better goal than Taylor's long range lucky dip.Originally posted by Cacodemon View PostIt's good, but it's not great. Nice try Neil.
