    Higuain signs for Madrid

    from soccernet

Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign highly rated Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain for a reported fee of €13million (£8.1m) from River Plate, Marca said on Thursday.

The radio station said that the 19-year-old wunderkind, who has been courted by a number of top European sides, had agreed to sign a six and a half-year deal with the nine-times European champions
River finance chief Hector Grimberg held talks with Real directors Franco Baldini and Pedja Mijatovic on Wednesday and although the Spanish club only wanted to pay €10m River held out for the full amount.
Higuain shot to prominence last May when he scored twice as River Plate beat Brazilian champions Corinthians 3-1 to knock them out of the Libertadores Cup.
He scored twice more in the 3-1 win over arch-rivals Boca Juniors in October.
Higuain, who was born in France of Argentine parents and moved to the South American country when he was less than a year old, turned down a call-up from France in November.

he looks a lively player. from what ive seen of him

Pity we never land one of these young attacking stars

Mijatovic is a Real director? h:

I'm sure it's Predrag though rather than Pedja, hmmm maybe Soccernet is not that great after all

Used to use it all the time until I noticed their articles were exactly what would be in The Daily hate Mail. It's ESPN owned now though isn't it?

As for Higuain, I could never see us getting him really. Seemed to be too much in demand with the big clubs for us to stand a chance.

Thats a good price for him. If I was him I would have moved to a club where he is more likely to start like Aguero. I don't think he's up to the standard yet.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Pedja or Peja is a shortened for of Pedrag

Soccernet is usually quite good for info, they dont seem to show anything unless its a dead cert.

Ah right, that exaplins it. Yeah soccernet is pretty decent as I recall. More a news outlet than a rumour collation agency unlike some sites we won't mention

He is VERY good from what I have of him and that is four or five games on the net.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
