For info - when Dowie was manager - Les Read/Reid was already coaching the team.
If Charlton have any hope of staying up they should demote Read back to coach and get a new manager asap - and not Pardew either. There are plenty of decent managers in the lower divisions who would jump at the chance to keep Charlton up.
The whole situation at Charlton comes back to the same arguement about coaching badges: Les Read has got the lot of 'em but can't see what's in front of his face footballwise. And then there are experienced ex-international players with no badges at all managing in the premiership - and doing a better job.
It appears to me Charlton appointed a technical man - when they should have appointed a football man.Liverpool born and bred.Comment

They deserve everything they get for their treatment of Dowie. I can safey say after Saturday's game that they are the worst side I've seen in the Premiership this year. Les Reed hasn't a clue what he is doing and it shows.Comment

The ex-player/badges thing is an interesting debate. I think what it comes down to is what Trevor Brooking has said in that the current badges are not really good enough.
