    Chelsea to sign Micah Richards?

Taken from the gossip column (BBC):

Chelsea will sign Manchester City star Micah Richards for £18m in January to solve their defensive crisis.

A bit over priced IMO, would any other club pay £18m for a player with only a hand full of appearances for his club and one England cap?

Of course its overpriced but its Chelsea. Once they get involved, most teams can forget about it.

I was hoping we'd have money in place by now to seriously challenge Chelseafor this lad but it seems that I was mistaken.

I think so. He's impressed so far.

Problem is Chelsea have the dosh to wave about. City could say no but thats unlikely from a team seeking investment to improve the club.

Even if Micah wanted to come here, would City accept a lower bid?

        Shaun Wright Phillips anyone?

I can see Micah Richards moving to Chelsea for a bit of dosh with SWP going in the opposite direction.

City lurch from one crisis to another - and have done for as long as I can remember. If I was SWP I wouldn't go back there; I'd be looking for a move somewhere else.

(I'd take him in a heartbeat over Pennant).

No big surprise after Terry's injury problems.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

as would I to be fair. I rate Pennant but think the mini wonder is just that.

It's what you will have to pay for a talent like him. If you want to sign proven quality then you must be prepared to pay big money to sign him.

Rafa would probably pay £18m for him if he had the money.

Stuart Pearce has this morning confirmed that Manchester City has heard nothing from Chelsea regarding England defender Micah Richards.

The London based press have again speculated today about the 18-year-old's future, but Pearce was in combative mood saying: “We’ve had no contact from them.

“The only contact we’ve had with Chelsea is us ringing them about their players coming here – not them ringing us for ours.”

And the Manager stressed that there are no similarities between the current situation and when Shaun Wright-Phillips left the Club.

He added: “We are not in a situation at the moment that we maybe were two years ago with Shaun that we had to sell.

“Things have changed at this football club. Players will only leave this club if we feel it’s for the benefit of the club – full stop.

“Micah is very happy here, wants to stay at the football club and we are on a very sound financial footing."

Yeah i would pay that for proven quality but one and a half seasons with man city and 1 england cap isnt what i would call proven. think he is a good player but just think that man city have slapped that price tag on him coz they know chelsea would pay it.
