Put it this way.....if someone offered me a top drawer replacement for our keeper situation, or the introduction and re-bedding in of a major component of the defence that has been in place since VVD arrived, it's no contest.

I agree we should always be looking for better players in all positions though. That includes the CBs. Not cheap to replace him, but then we appear to have hit a money wall with the keeper issue as well.

FWIW.... I think both will be starting for us come August.

Sell him for circa £20m and get someone else in while also trying to bed Gomes in the role.

I think Modric aside, Croatia continue to offer below what you'd hope from them.
Just don't seem to click in a consistent manner in attack.
At their best, I think they'd have England all things considered, but that best is far from a given.

The effort both sides have had to put in these knockout rounds could be a factor.
