I guess we need to look abroad. Dont think we'll be able to fight Chelsea for Richards. Alves would be a good buy imo. Not that I feel we need to replace Finnan yet though.

Nah mate he just isn't, Finnan isn't on the same level as Gerrard and he's the only player in our squad I would consider world class.

My definition of world class is getting into a world 11, and maybe a 5 man bench as well.

I agree that he has a better than 50/50 chance of making it to that level, but we all said it about SWP and we've all seen what happened to him. I hope for his own sake he doesn't go to Chelsea because i don't think it's the right environment for him to grow, Arsenal probably would or Spurs.

That's an area we need to start working on to tempt young players to us.

Thing is though, if Richards goes to Chelsea, unlike SWP, he'll most likely get a regular game. Essien's been playing RB at times, Geremi too and the portugese lad isnt a long term solution.

Ready made position for Richards and he probably knows it. TBH, i dont think a move to Chelsea would stunt his career like it has SWP.
