I think this year it was just the balance of playing all the top teams in away games in the first half of the season, rather than a bit of a mix. However looking at it from another view, we have them all to play at home in the second half of the season, so we should be more comfortable.

We are probably the best team in the league when we score the first goal but one of the worst when the other team score first.

It's just nice to win a couple of games in London. We've had a **** record there in recent years...

Now, now, there is no need to be rude

You are indeed a master of observation as you have hit the nail bang on the head, you do have to play every team twice. However, in every other respect I think your post is wrong. It makes all the difference when you play your fixtures, because playing your toughest games when your players have found form, greatly improves your chance of winning those games.

By playing those tough fixtures at the very start of league, it meant we had to cope against the best teams at the most hostile of venues before our players had found their feet/recovered from the world cup. This resulted in us not playing our best football and being punished for it.

It is not the bunching of the games that was so much of an issue as it would be great to play all our harder games during a purple patch. It is just that playing them all so close together whilst we were off form simply compounded the issue.

You've made a good point. Fair enough, I suppose it does stop you from creating good momentum and it is probably better to play the harder teams away you have beaten a few crap teams because of psychological factors such as confidence etc. But at the same time, if we are ever going to be good enough to win the league, it shouldn't matter when we play each team. Chel****e and the Manc *******s don't have that problem and the league reflects that.

Going slightly off the point the fixture system in England is apparently designed to help out the teams competing in Europe though, but I can't work out how. It should be more like Spain where you play each at the same time in the second half of the season, if that makes sense. Last season, we played Charlton home and away in the league within a week or something stupi like that. In Spain that would never happen but I suppose in Spain you'd never play during the Christmas Holiday period - shows how flawed the fixture system is in England

Blackburn and Spurs? ****ing Hell, people would have thought it was Chelsea and United away. They're average teams and we played them away, this is absolutely crazy. I think Reading got the tough draw actually.
