    ANFIELD TO SWOOP FOR YOUNG

    LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez is ready to make a shock move for Watford's England Under-21 winger Ashley Young.

    Benitez has made an inquiry for the versatile youngster who is also on the hit-lists of Tottenham and Arsenal.

    Young (above) is seen as the wide man that the Merseysiders lack - with Jermaine Pennant proving a flop since his move from Birmingham. He would also be available for Champions League action.

    Watford would consider selling Young for £4million - allowing boss Aidy Boothroyd to bring in two or three new faces.

    According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

      awesome...i really like this kid. Better than Pennant thats for sure. Everytime ive seen him ive been impressed

          More potential. That's not what we need RIGHT NOW. We need the finished article who we know will put quality balls in more often than not. We also need at least 2 quality strikers who will put those created chances away. Enough of potential. We've suffered enough in recent years because of that.

            Heard about him but have seen very little of him. Just how good is he and what is his style of play? Right winger I take it?

              He's ****ing quality this lad, pace to burn, an end product, a great work rate and he's versatile.
              He can play wide left/right, in behind the striker or as a main striker, plus i'd love to see us go for some young English/British
              talent for a change.

                  I saw him last season, looked impressive, but that was in the Championship.

                  I wouldn't call him "****in quality" but he's a decent player with potential. Not sure he's the immediate solution.

                          I don't know much about this lad. I honestly can't say that he's ever stood out to me. What are his qualities, pace, movement, crossing?

                              anymore news on this front...or was it just pure papertalk?

                              people talk about us missing Lennon for cheap, and Milner...you know young talented wingers. Well this is another opportunity for us to get one. He would be a great signing for us...young and ready to play.

                              I really like this lad, he has bags of skill and pace to burn...not only that but he has a hell of a shot on him.
