Once again SG is our most in-form potent striker

No co-incidence that it's come when he's playing CM, and the form of the whole team has picked up. 5 goals in 10 games now. Well done lad. Pleased to see both Kuyt and Crouch score.

    Wrong.

Kyut has been immense for us. He might not score alot but he provides a hell of a lot of assists.

Stevie G is by far our best midfielder.

I didn't mean SG IS a striker. But he's most definitely our most potent goalscorer at present. I agree Kuyt is by far our best striker. Good to see him score again today. Something he needs to do more often,as do all our strikers.

Yes - but let's hope Rafa sees sense when Momo's fit. I'll go mad if he moves SG again.

momo's a great player when we don't have the lion's share of possession

but since's he's been out we've changed that and are now domminating.

if Pennant plays like that Stevie and Alonso have to be the centre pairing

There's certainly a strong case to keep him in the middle. When Momo comes back there's a possibility that Rafa could play 3 CM's with Stevie pushing further forward.

SG must stay in the middle. It really isn't up for discussion.

rafa has been trying out 3-5-2 formation, i realy can see in blossoming with xabi momo and stevie all together in midfield

I'm not against Stevie on the right or behind the forward

But more against Momo's play making and distribution, think it brings the opo more into the game

as good as momo is (and i think he is great) stevie recently has shown that he really is boss and that CM is by far his best position (though i still think he is playing at about 90% of his ability)

xabi and stevie have started to form the kind of partnership that we have all hoped to see and hadn't happened in 04/05 due to their respective injuries and last season as stevie was needed wide right.

Xabi's excellent defensive work seems to dovetails nicely with SG and stevie has obviously worked on his game with rafa on that side of things.

what they do give us- as two of the best midfielders around-is a quality of possession via their passing, movement and attacking intelligence that is lacking from momo's game.

so what's the solution? for me, momo is not needed to play every game at home but is a must away from anfield.

xabi is not the most dynamic player in terms of athleticism and sometimes looks like he needs a bit of a rest (for me his passing radar goes off if he is not 100%)

he would be the obvious one to rest/drop for some away games if stevie is to stay centrally (stevie is the closest i have seen to undroppable at present, but even he will need a rest at some point)

i would not object to all 3 with stevie playing nominally on the right either in away games- our away record was very good last season with that set up after all-but i don't think all 3 are needed at home

I find it quite incredible that other well informed REDS fans can argue the opposite. He must stay there too in my opinion.

Lets see how the Alonso/Gerrard partnership fairs against the the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Scum, Barcelona, I'll be more convinced if they put in some good performances in those matches.

I've always been a proponent of the 3-5-2 formation with Momo, Xabi and Stevie in there.
