    Lucas Neill bid made?

    from Sky Sports:

    Neill bidders make offers
By Graeme Bailey - Created on 3 Jan 2007

Skysports.com can reveal that Blackburn Rovers have received bids for their wantaway captain Lucas Neill.

Neill is entering the final six months of his contract and at Ewood Park and the Australian star has made it clear he does not want to sign a new deal.

While Rovers continue to press Neill to sign, they realise that this month will be their last chance to get any money for the player, who has been with them for over five years.

Neill joined for £1million from Millwall in 2001, but he decided last year that he wanted to leave the club.

His stunning performance at the World Cup for Australia saw a host of clubs sit up and take notice.

Liverpool have long been favourites to secure his signature and they lodged a bid for him in August, along with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur - only for Rovers to repel the offers.

Barcelona and Milan have since hinted they would be very interested in securing his services, while over clubs in La Liga are also following his situation.

Now we can reveal that since the transfer window opened at the start of this month, Rovers have indeed received offers for the 28-year-old.

"We know there have been bids put in for him," Neill's agent Peter Harrison confirmed to skysports.com.

"There is a lot of interest from England and abroad."

It is understood previous suitors Liverpool and Newcastle are again interested, but the interest is so widespread, Neill could have a clutch of offers to consider - should Blackburn accept the bids.

What sort of reception would he get from the fans and players after those tackles at Ewood Park? It's an interesting one this...

...personally I'd like to see him in a red shirt as he's a committed player who would add a bit of steel to the back four. He's also versatile enough to provide cover right across the defence and could even be first choice ahead of Finnan or Riise.
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

Hasn't he be sent of against us twice before aswell? I still think the majority of fans will back him if he signs. Another liverpool fan in the ranks will only help

If Ince can get a decent reception as a RED then i'm sure Neill wont have to many problemo's

I've always [context]hated[/context] Neill and I don't particularly want us to sign him, but if he signs he'll get nowt but backing from me. I can't see how or why anybody would react any differently?

No matter who they are, once they've got that Red shirt on they're one of ours and we've got to cheer them on. Plus if Carra is willing to forgive then so should we.

I think that we must have been one of the teams to make a bid because we do seem to have been interested for quite a while. I guess we'll find out in a day or 2...

                My sentiments exactly

I don't think he is as good as his reputation and I also think he is a bit of a cock. I am worried that he might push the cock ratio in our team too high, afterall, we already have Bellend and Pennant.

If we do sign him, then good luck to him I really hope he does well, even if he is a bit of a cock.

Did you win the comp then? The one where you have to get the word "cock" into a reply as many times as you can.

But good sentiments all the same.

I'm more worried about his ability than his personality. I dont know what everyone sees in him tbh. For me wont replace Finnan (not immediately anyway) or Riise, and won't be a first choice centre back.

Maybe it's to prevent him breaking any other players legs by keeping him on our bench?

I'd be upset if we paid 2 million pounds + Warnock for any player with 6 mnths left on his contract.

Anybody know what our bid for Neill is?

The best option for Neill would probably be Barcelona. He would probably get more playing time for them.

I can't see him starting that many games for us.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
