May as well post this here for a laugh.

In an exchange of emails with my Spurs mate, I'd goaded him over our win and gave Martin Jol some stick - he hit back with this about Benitez...(!):

"I fail to see how anyone could dislike Big Martin. I don't know how you dare - your boss is a ****ing cnut. A fat ****ing Spanish waiter. Fatter than Big Martin an all. He'll never win the Premiership with his **** Spanish buys and his negative approach. Fat ****ing Spanish waiter CNUT."

I'm not saying he is a bad manager but where on earth does this consensus that he is such a genius come from?! Hate to say it but both Maureen and Sir Drunk are so much better it is painful. Fcuk sake, given a semi-decent budget I could take one of the two top teams in the Scottish league to the title. The amount of people that thought he would be our best option while Houllier was on his way out was frightening.

Thing with O'Neil is that he isn't a tactical genius, he just has an ability to get an average bunch of players to play above their level. I agree with you about the Scottish league, but he did do well for Celtic in Europe, esp given the (Larson and Lennon apart) general mediocrity of his team.

When you have the best players available, you don't have to be a tactical genius to win most games. Our greatest managers used to pick the same players week in week out, playing the same system.

O'Neill has never had a decent transfer budget in the Prmier League. If he did, he would be winning stuff all over the place.

Whilst Rooney, Ronaldinho, Henry etc are arguably more 'gifted' footballers, they have never done this.
