4 players to win the league?

If we could add SWP, Alves, Mascherano and Villa to our squad in January or during the Summer, do you think we would have a good enough squad to challenge for the title next season?

To challenge yes. To win it, maybe.

SWP is shot, I wouldn't give you £5 for him, never mind £10M being reported.

Replace him amongst your other selections and maybe.

Give SWP half a season of regular 1st team football, and i very much doubt he'd be 'shot'.

Well the question was "to challenge" so the answer is yes. If we challenged, we could win it. There's never a definitive "yes" answer to these questions....we just need to start challenging for it. We might win it then.

I'd agree with those four players we'd most certainly challenge although, given the alarming manner in which he's lost his form, I'm not sure I'd take SWP at the moment.

I think we are going to challenge and win it this season regardless of January signings.

We'd definitely challenge but I reckon we'd still need a top quality left back. Riise's not the answer.

He needs to play games mate, he'll get it back if he gets a move.

To be honest we have the capability to challenge for it now, we just need to stop having **** starts to the season.

But in general, I think all we need is a 20 goal a season striker and a right winger. If we get Kewell back to his best, and we sign Lucas Neill or a.n. other to be a versatile defender, then I think we're covered.

Agreed. I quite like Riise but he's an incredibly limited footballer. His appalling lack of a right foot is quite frankly dangerous, he's slow, can't pass, hoofs it all the time and isn't particularly adept at defending in a one-on-one situation. Granted he's got that hammer shot and he takes up good positions going forward, but I think we need better than him. Always have done.

I'm inclined to agree. I'm not one of those that thinks he's **** - he was dynamic on a weekly basis for Citeh and can be a serious attacking threat, but he doesn't just seem to be out of form....he looks to have become **** overnight. I know that's not the case, but you'd wanna see him show a little bit of form before we signed him. Not that it's likely.

There was one great run and cross for Drogba the other week, but he's followed that up with some abysmal performances.

To be honest no matter who we bring in we rely on United and Chelsea losing a large number of points, can't see it happening. We have a squad currently capable of going on a run like we did last year - it still wouldn't be enough. I would rather we saved our money to make the best possible choices of players come in (I think that of your list Alves and Villa would be ideal signings but neither would be available in January).

I don't think he means to challenge this season mate. In the future, innit.

Barcodes have reportedly made an offer for SWP, let them nuture him for a year or two to see if he rediscovers his form, we have enough on our plate doing the same with our current batch of wingers without adding to the problem.
