Judging from todays Echo it looks like Rafa is trying to bring in a number of players asap. I think this is a good idea as it gives these players time to settle in. Many people argue that our poor start to the last two season is down to players needing time to settle in and fine their form. I agree this could be a big part of the problem.
In this case in makes sense to get these players in now. They may not actually be expected to contribute much this season but would be ready to fi tinto the team from the first game next year. The classic exmple of this is Agger who didnt play alot last season but this season has been ready from day one.
Now obviously any new signing would be used for the rest of this season but maybe Rafa is thinking that by signing them now we will see the best of them by the start of next season. This would help us to have a strong start to the season and be in a position to challange for the title when we see the benifit of rotation after Christmas. Just a thought.
