Garcia is value for money

LUIS GARCIA cost £5million, plays in midfield and has 31 goals in 119 games, including coming on as sub.

Wayne Rooney cost £30m, is a striker who has played 117 games (mostly starts) and has 43 goals.

Now I am not saying Luis is a better player but someone who plays in midfield and comes on a lot as a sub that's what I call value for money and a great scoring rate.

And remember how important a lot of his goals are, so end of argument.

Exactly the point, you can always dig up a stat to "prove" your point of view.

Having said that, I think Luis is very valuable to the squad

It's a very interesting argument, and on the face of it it seems you can't argue against it : Luis Garcia is better value for money.

However, it's a fallacious argument because if a £1m striker had scored 7 goals in 119 games he'd apparently be better value for money, but clearly he isn't!
