Absolutely amazing. Everybody in the Kop should be proud of themselves. I had to even call the wife in to listen to it.

      The Guardian:

Arsenal did not need to worry about being physically intimidated by Liverpool - if Arsene Wenger could play teams built by Rafael Benitez every week, he would not need to complain about lack of protection from referees - though lesser sides could easily have been unnerved by their fans. To say Anfield was noisy at the start of this Cup tie would be the understatement of 2007. The Kop welcomed the television cameras as promised, with a superbly orchestrated protest over slurs on fans' behaviour at Hillsborough, recently re-aired by Kelvin MacKenzie. He was editor of the Sun at the time of the original accusations. The display lasted exactly six minutes into the game - though with grim irony, fans were warned that holding up placards during play would infringe safety regulations - then switched off with military precision, to coincide with the time when the 1989 FA Cup semi-final was abandoned. The protest was replaced by the type of sustained din usually reserved for big European nights.
      Sunday Times:

There had been an unreal air to the opening six minutes as the whole of the Kop held up red and white cards to form a giant mosaic and chanted "Justice for the 96" in support of those supporters who died at Hillsborough almost 18 years ago. Anyone whose view was obscured would have missed nothing, the first quarter of the game passing without incident.

..... well in mate, respect to everyone involved .

The crescendo at the 6 minute mark was truely awesome. I got up at 2.45 am and will have worked all day from 5am my time, and those 6 minutes have made it all worthwhile.

Really pleased this seems to have had some coverage, I thought it would get glossed over but in all honesty nobody could've ignored that display. It was an absolutely unforgettable 6 minutes (well, more like 10).

My seat is opposite the clock at the corner of the kop and centenary it started at 5-14 and ended at 5-24

                      a truly awesome display
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

                        Is Justice:

                        1) A full apology for what was published by the S*n
                        2) Re-inquest into the deaths?
                        3) A re-trial with the im of the conviction of the Police for what happened?

Who knows - and I'm sure each of the family members and friends of the dead have a different definition.

The reason I ask this question is it's not actually clear from the HJC website what it is they want. I'm interested to know what it is people actually want so many years later. This is a genuine question, not meant as an antagonistic comment.

Mods - if you think this subject is too sensitive for debate on this forum, please delete. I repeat - this is not meant as an inflammatory post.

My best wishes to all who are personally affected by this issue.
You're not being insensitive at all mate, they're good questions. Iceman's covered the police angle below, but THE catalyst for yesterday's protest was the BBC's disgracefully employing MacKenzie over the festive season to present a show on Radio 5. He does not deserve to be treated as a journalist or presenter, anyone working in those fields should steer well clear of him as he is a disgrace to the profession. Employing him also showed yet again that the tragedy of Hillsborough has long been brushed under the carpet, people simply don't care. There will never be justice for the 96 as this (prosecution of the police forces responsible for the disaster; action against the S*n for the distress they caused) would be too damaging for the establishment.

A bloody powerful protest it was too, I was nearly in tears. Anyone else notice how uncomfortable Mark Lawrenson was in the commentary box during it?

Well done to everyone involved in this. It was an emotional day - I said at half time that the score was hardly important today - the Mosaic and singing reminded everyone watching what we're about as a club and as a community. This was seen all over the world. We had a text from my bro who is working in the wilds of the jungle in Ghana who was amazed and very proud of everyone at the match yesterday.
BTW, we were in the Main Stand for the first time in ages yesterday [usually Kopites] and whilst not everyone got involved at the start of the game, by the time 4-5 minutes had gone by most around us had joined in [and I only got told to sit down once - and that was by a jobsworth steward!]

Fantastic job wel done lads - keep up the good work.

I should think there is some respect for that 6 minutes cos my bloody arms were dropping off.

Actually, it was more like 10 cos everyone started too early! It was meant to be from the second the whistle blew to start play but started as soon as the players came out!!

It was pretty amazing being amongst it though!! Very emotional.
