I think thats accurate, Momo is missed there today, Hansen said it on BEEB, our two mids are great going forward but they are not protecting the back four and god knows Riise needs protecting today (and the normally reliable Finnan is not far behind)

The onus wasn't on him to try to jump over (which I thought he did actually). It's a penalty if the challenge was careless, reckless or excessive force was used. It was at the very least careless. The player got nowhere near the ball and brought Alonso down - so a penalty was the only logical outcome.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to be one of praise for our best performers today.

Agree to some degree about the moaning but at least it shows they care, and in Pennants case (as with Bellamy) I think it helps him raise his game.

I agree somewhat with you. There was a bit of whinging and playacting from the players you mention in particular. Mainly in the first half.

Alonso, at least, seemed to roll up the sleeves and get stuck in after his yellow though.

Perfect example would be when Garcia got a little tap on the head and he reacted like he was punched, and later on, Carra took a fair whack and just got up and patted the guy.

Different mentalities though, the Spanish lads have come from an enviroment where that stuff is pretty much accepted.

Exactly. Gerrard is fine in CM against the ****e. Against a team like Arsenal, we need Momo.

It's been said 100 times over, our CM should be MS & SG or MS & XA. Gerrard can shoot, rampage, run all day, but dominating a game is not what he does. He is incapable of it.

If that was given against us I'd be ****ing raging that the man was cheating, looking for the pen and leaving his foot behind to make contact.

The fact that it was XA looking for it does not make it a pen in my mind.

Does not change the fact that the team out there today was plenty good enough to beat Arsenal. And easily the Arsenal we saw out there today.

I thought it was a penalty, as for Pennant I don't think he done too bad. Garcia was pish though.
