I wonder how much Henry would cost actually.

I dont think its beyond LFC to get him if they were serious.

I just think maybe they are not ambitious enough in the market.

The only time I ever remember Scholes playing that role was about 2 years ago when he played off RVN and it stuttered didn't really produce as far as I remember.
      Could be wrong.

What I'm saying is that neither Stevie or Scholes have the guile for that role they are driving energetic CM's who move into space behind the strikers but are not the keys to unlocking a stubborn defence.

Don't forget it took Henry a while to settle.

I'm sure Roman offered them 60 million for him a couple of years ago which was turned down.

              I agree with you there.

We need a proper partnership up front imho.

                Kuyt, Klose, Villa and Owen.

That would be four very good strikers that gives Rafa all the options he need.

If you want players proven in the PL then....

Kuyt, Owen, Bellamy and Ashton would also be four good strikers that gives Rafa all the options he need.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I agree with the 1st 4 AF, but no the second. if Owen and Kuyt were injured we'd stuggle for goals again. Ashton and Bellamy aren't prolific.

I´m just throwing the names of potential world beaters from the last two years out there.
My point is we need to up our thinking. If the investment happens and we do spend 30-40 m a season we will be looking at the best.

I´m not sure Arsenal would turn down 30m for Henry. ( I´m not saying we should offer that either. )

And we have never before been abel to offer what we can mabe offer now.

Chelsea owner made formal offer for Henry: report
Arsenal received a formal offer from Chelsea billionaire owner Roman Abramovich earlier this week for Thierry Henry, the Spanish sports daily As said.

British media on Sunday said the sum offered was between 40 million and 50 million pounds.

But Arsenal have ruled out any possibility of the striker leaving despite the interest not only of Chelsea but also Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Vice-chairman David Dein was quoted by As, saying that Arsenal had received a formal offer from Chelsea for the 26-year-old French international, but that they would be rejecting any approaches.

"Look carefully at my lips so that there is no doubt over what I am going to say," Dein told an As reporter at Friday's Champions League draw in Nyon.

"Henry is not for sale at any price, not to Real Madrid, not to Chelsea, not to any club.

"We know that Real Madrid are interested in our player and we know that Chelsea also want him because last week Roman Abramovich himself came to Highbury to present a formal offer for him.

"But we said the same thing we will say to Real Madrid if they present an offer, or to any other club for that matter, and that is that Henry is not for sale.

Owen and Bellamy would be too similar.

as one is already here, there is clearly no need to buy the former.

No point in signing Owen until he's proven he can go a season without getting injured.
So probably at least 2 years before it's realistic. Are we going to wait that long?

One scores goals the other doesn't. Goals is what we need. Which is why we needed Owen more than we do Bellamy.
