    Midfield creativity

I've seen a few say that we lack creativity from the midfield which is spot on but it leaves us with a problem / dilemma.

Where do we improve it and do we need to?

Does Alonso have a killer pass in him?
Can Momo push on and be a threat upfront?
Is Gerrard clever enough to become a playmaker?

Would just adding two quality wingers make a difference epsecially in light of Liverpool at times not using the wide areas to their advantage?

I'm torn between shaking up the middle too but dont want to lose any of the three.

Yes, but I don't think we should use him that way.

Most definitely, look at Ronaldo and Giggs, they don't just play wide, they get into the box as well and create things and score goals.

Personally I think we should only play two of them, and Gerrard has to play, that leaves one place.

Basically we've only got Gerrard and Garcia who will chip in with a decent amount of goals, they both need to play with more freedon, at times last nite our midfield was too deep, in fact if you look at both of the Rosicky goals, that was the case.

Killer pass as in defense splitting along the floor over 10 yards not a 30 yard over the top rocket?

We need an excellent attacking playmaker, like Diego or Aimar. Garcia is better inside the box. We also need to get Kewell back as soon as possible.

Maybe Rafa will consider to make a bid for Vicente who looks to be on the way out from Valencia. Flores want Mata on the left.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Yeah I think he's capable of that, he just plays too deep at times and Rafa doesn;t give him that role, I've seen him play plenty of short clever passes int he final third when he gets the chance.

problem with the killer pass is you need a player in front to make the runs

you also need in the case of last night to pull defenders in a good set up that bit out of position to allow the pass.

Stevie and Garcia do this well but only when Garcia is in the middle behind the front player.

Bellamy has started making these diagonal runs and the rest fo the team are tuned into them

Bellamy and Kuyt know where each other are.

We made some great passes into the box yesterday but lacked pace. Bellamy again.

We had some great crosses and again no one on the end. This could come with time as we've only just started seeing these.

We need a goal poacher, Kuyt is an excellent link up and player to help chip in with goals, but if he plays behind Crouch as his game seems to be, we lack that flair.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

Problem is, who do we sacrifice for that attacking playmaker?

I think Gerrard will weigh in with enough goals from the centre midfield. What we need to fit our system are goalscoring wingers, as well as a goalscoring striker if possible. If we had the likes of a Giggs and Ronaldo I think we'd be an awful lot better, in fact we definitely would be, blatantly. Then our strikers could get away with scoring only 10-15 goals a season cause you would have three people from the midfield and the wings scoring goals as well. A la Scholes, Ronaldo, Giggs.

He has done it this year, a defense splitter put Finnan in on the right who squared for Crouch to score i think it was West Ham at home.

Good points there, Crouch and Kuyt don't really get into those positions and aren't quick enough to make those runs.

Kuyt needs to be given more of a goalscoring role for me, he plays too deep at times and needs to be used as more of an out and out striker.

Bellamy for me has to play because of his pace, he gives the best balance in attack with the strikers we have at the moment.

Kuyt has never been an out and out striker, he got more assists than goals at Feyenoord. He is often used by Van Basten in wide positions and was for Feyenoord too. We need an out and out striker but they are few and far between these days, what pisses me off is Utd sell arguably the best out and out striker in Premiership History and it hasnt affected them at all.
I agree on Bellamy especially away from home, Peter for me has to be replaced unfortunately as i like him but yesterday proved that he will not dovetail with Dirk at all.
Who we replace him with is a tough one, I think (controversial as it is ) we missed out on Andy Johnson. (waits for abuse........)

Killer pass is easy to do if you have a player upfront who is making a run. The problem is that our players don't make the runs. And if they do, they are in offside (Bellers) or they are surrounded with 5 defenders (Kuyt, Crouch).

We need to stop practicing "Pass & Stand still" and really practice "Pass & Move". It's about bloody time.

PS: RAFA put FOWLER on, FFS!!! You don't get much better natural born goalscorers like him!

Bingo! And that is why we should sell Crouch.

Pipe dream with Rafa in charge, also with Diego and Alves there is no guarantee of any success in the Prem for a very large outlay, sorry i also think Kewell is gone. I think partnering Villa with Kuyt and playing Gerard free behind might work at home but away we need pace so maybe Villa and Bellamy.
