It will probably cost a lot of money, probably £50m+ but if you want quality then you will have to be prepared to spend big.

Alves £15m-£20m.

Richards £15m-£20m.

Klose or Huntelaar £6m-£15m.

Mascherano £6m.

Diego £15m.

That is the type of players Rafa hopefully will be able to sign. I don't say that this is Rafa's first choice targets just that this the type of players we should sign.

I think its highly likely we'll sign a CF, a RW, a CM, a LB and a RB in the transfer window. Maybe even a LW if Kewell doesn't come back or is allowed to leave.

I think one of Momo or Alonso will need to be sacrificed if we are to be title contenders. Both have great attributes but neither is a complete enough midfielder. I have a feeling if Rafa signs Mascherano and if he can play to the standard he managed with Argentina we may well see him become the solitary holding midfielder. Whether Rafa sticks with 442 and plays SG alongside him is anyones guess but I personally can see Rafa changing the formation if he has serious DIC cash to spend. I'd like to see a 4141 formation similar to what he used at valencia and a creative midfielder like Aimar brought in!!

I agree we cant bankrupt ourself. But why buy players who isnt good enough? I hope with DIC, we'll be able to get some quality players in. (Without turning into chelsea )

Gerrard Alonso Kuyt Aimar Villa but in what formation I dunno whether it's 41 or 212 is anyones guess......I've started another thread on it. The formation still lacks a quality winger. Rafa had vicente at valencia !!

I´m not saying we have as strong a squad as the others. Of course we can and will improve with the new investment.

My point is right now we need to be playing better. What I saw yesterday would have shamed the Liverpool of old.

And if we do improve with new players, it will be not only because they have more quality but also because they will follow Rafas orders better. ( hopefully )

I think many posters on here, myself included have over emphasized players and under estimated team performance.

Someone on here said that buying new players was the only solution.

Whilst I would agree wholeheartedly that we should be performing better as a team with the personnel we have, I also think we are not going to solve the problem of us being too prosaic and predictable until we get some more flair in the side, we need better ball carriers.
