Carra's been here since day one. Why not reward loyalty with a day out. We all go on about getting local players and players who'd "die" for the club
He can play 5 minutes in every position to to tune of we all dream of a team of Carraghers

was mentioned 2008 for game and Alder Hey would get proceeds.

    I'm there
As I said "The testimonial should go out, and the charity benefit game for a charity of the players choice should come in. There should be no option for the player to pocket the profits."

This would keep everyone happy, except maybe Giggs:whatever:

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Looks like we'll see Owen in red again at Anfield If he'll be fit, of course

Tony's is correct in one sense, testimonials are no longer necessary for players due to the high wages they command and the smaller periods they play for a single club. However, I think the testimonal still has a place for one off games for those that have served their clubs with dillegence and distinction for a long period of time. The requirement being that the money raised is given to charity. Considering the amount of work Carra does around Liverpool there are any number of local charities that will benefit from such a game, albeit some time in the future.

But the basic tennant of Tony's argument is right, the amount of player's that fans would turn out in numbers for is very small, even if the games receipts were going to charity. This is nt just because of the money they earn but because there are a great number of players that earn far more than they are worth and their perceived behaviour in getting their wage demands alienates their own fans. Do you think many Man Utd fans would turn out for Rio Ferdinand's testimonial? They would nt, but they would for Giggs, Scholes and Neville. Liverpool fans would turn out for Carra, Gerrard and probably Hyypia's, based on time at the club and service given. But the numbers are small, which is probably just as well because we cannot all play Celtic.
