    Lucas Neill latest?

I assumed this deal was nailed on, soon as the January transfer window opened he would be a Liverpool player.
All gone a bit quiet and it seems a few other Clubs are interested as well, Newcastle being the latest.
Anyone have an update on this one?

I don't care if he doesn't come as he's not our solution for that right back slot.

Agree he`s not the solution but he will be able to provide cover (at low cost) for several positions until summer. Finnan has been a rock for us and (without wanting to curse it!) has been without injury for a long time. He could be due a knock!

Neill would make a good utility player IMO. For now at least.

Yes he would make a good utility player but we need thoroughbreds to challenge for the title.

I've seen an article in the Guardian today which infuriated me (but to an extent I agree with) and here is the excerpt from that article.

Liverpool's impact often depends on organisation more than inspiration. The squad is of patchy standard and Wenger just smiled when asked how many would make the Arsenal line-up. Benítez knows it would be low number. His case was questionable, though, when he implied that Arsenal, who are not known for extravagance, enjoy greater means. "They pay a lot of money for Hleb, Rosicky, Van Persie," he said, although the total cost of £17.5m for three Premiership footballers is by no means stratospheric.
That's why we've been losing to Arsenal, Manure and Chelski for the past two seasons. We've beaten anyone bar these three and we need more quality attacking players and that implies having flying left and right backs, not just 'solid' players.

Hleb, Rosicky and Van Persie weren't bought for big sums of money & Rosicky was a long time target of Houllier beforehand.
