    Alonso = Future LFC Legend

    Alonso is one of the top midfielders in the world.

    He is a sublime talent. The way he makes space and time for himself is second to noone. It's what roy keane used to do. And then he has the guile, touch, vision and the ability to spread passes around with ease. Quality passes for a simple flick with the outside of his boot, a 50 yard pinpoint crossfield pass, to a 40 yard pacy through ball (remember the ball for Gerrards goal away to Sunderland last year - one of the best through passes i can remember ever seeing).

    His footballing brain is top notch and he is hardly lacking in the defensive side of the game either. He is a lot stronger and tougher in the tackle than some give him credit for. There was a debate a while ago about the fact that Xabi and Stevie in the centre don't offer enough protection but I think our recent run of clean sheets has put that one to bed! He dictates our play and will be the key man for us (along with Gerrard) if we are to win the league (which we will) within the next few seasons.

    Also, i suggest to you to put him on player cam for ten minutes the next time you watch a game on TV, to track his off the ball movement. The way he makes space for himself and makes sure he's available at all times is nothing short of fabulous. Also, he alway's has a picture in his mind of what he's going to do before the ball even comes to him. He is PHENOMENAL.

    He will go on to become an LFC legend.

    Quality player but still has a lot to achieve before being a legend IMO.

    Can you write a similar analysis on Steven Gerrard?

      The problem for Liverpool is that he cannot hold a midfield as well as Sissoko or go driving forward and score goals like Gerrard. Therefore, where do you put him in a 4 man midfield without slapping our best player on the right wing?!

                    The 2 of them as a partnership offer the midfield every attribute it needs to be the best central midfield duo in the world IMO.

                    Sometimes it's all about the sum of the 2 parts rather than the individuals.

                    The solution to the problem is to have Sissoko as third choice. Bring him in for specific matches where we need a bit more muscle or when one of the other 2 need a rest but he is third choice and should be left on the bench for a lot of matches in my eye's. Simple.

                    i also rate Sissoko btw. We are blessed in that department.

                      He is a long way behind. A different type of player but I know who i'd rather have!

                          He'd be a world beater if he had more pace

                            Alonso is very flat footed. 10 or 15 years ago, Alonso would be THE best midfielder in the world. The game has moved on (for the worse imo) and Fabregas is very much the modern day midfield man, pace, vision, scores, tackles, gets forward as often as possible.

                            Molby wouldn't get a game these days either.
