    Jagielka - £9m

Phil Jagielka will quit Sheffield United for Liverpool in a £9m deal at the end of the season - if the Blades are relegated. (Daily Mirror, Daily Star)

Ridiculous price. Stupid story but just passing it on for those that haven't seen it. Jags is a midfielder who has played at Sheff Utd all his career. 24yrs old. 20 goals in 220 odd games. Nothing special.

Phil Jagielka then? Any takers for 9m?

Before anyone starts, yes, I lifted this from GW But Jagielka really?

    RAFA IN DRIVE FOR JAG

PHIL JAGIELKA will quit Sheffield United for Liverpool in a £9million deal at the end of this season if Neil Warnock's side are relegated.

Jagielka signed a new £13,000-a-week deal at Bramall Lane earlier this season, making him the highest-paid player in the club's history.

But the highly-rated midfielder had a clause inserted allowing him to join another club if the Blades failed to beat the drop.

It is understood Rafa Benitez has struck a deal with the Blades giving him first option on the former England Under-21 star.

The multi-million-pound fee would be a record sale for the Blades and represent a handsome profit on Jagielka, who has come through the club's academy.

        What the ****????????????? £9m?????????

Jagielka is a decent player but a) he's not good enough for us and b) even if he was we don't need him.

Jagielka isn't even a bona-fide midfielder. He's your classic utility player. He's played full seasons at centre back, full back and also in midfield. He's even played in goal about 10 times for t'Blaaaaades.

And when he does play in midfield, he's central. So where would he get a game? Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko......Mascherano? Jagielka? Pah.

agreed, but he did look useful in goal against the Gooners.......

If the interest is that serious though, I think he would demand a move away.
Stay at sheffield United or move to Liverpool?

                            yes

but the story isnt true is it. The lads stock rose after he played in goal in a league game so now everybody wants a hero like Jags.

                            nonsense story.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Would be shocked if we signed him. Even if Rafa does like versatile players.
