Is our underage scouting good enough?

How many 'Liverpool quality' players have we produced in the last 6/7 years?

Looking at the youngsters that come through Arsenal left, right and centre has me fuming at the complete and utter lack of talent coming through our own.

I think the biggest home grown player to come out of our academy in the last few years has been the useless Darren ****ing Potter.

You can't compere us to Arsenal for example. Wenger have had a long time setting their youth teams up. Rafa had to begin from the bottom after Houllier left.

We will get it better but it will take time.

Guthrie looked better than potter has ever been tonight. Not that says a lot. Still far off "liverpool" quality.

Rafa is trying to buy youngsters in, least that is something. Most of the arsenal players came from elsewhere brought in by wenger so I thought we were on the right path...

Its something that needs looking at thats for sure. Its not the Academy though. I think the quality of kids at a younger age coming through might be a problem.

Hang on hang on. How many players have Arsenal actually "brought through their youth system"? I thought Wenger's game was (with extremely good judgement) raiding other club's youth academy's, not actually 'developing youth' himself per-se....

That's put Stevie Heighway in the firing line hasn't it, from being untouchable not long ago.

If you want to follow that model, Henry will be sold at the end of the season, so should Gerrard.

Hardly any of the Arsenal Imported and hi-jacked youngsters from world class academies have come from the so-called home grown Arsenal Academy - those that have, have all been shifted on e.g. Stokes

Wenger has nurtured their already great natural ability and potential over a 10 year period he has been there.

We only saw 3 reserve players today in that so-called reserve team and 2 the produce of our own academy

Guthrie, Palletta and Pleiter

No point in getting concerned for the Academy when Rafa has been there only 3 years. As it takes time to implement changes. Just ask Slur Alex and Wenger how many home-grown wonder kids did they produce in there first 5 – 7 years at the club
