    Rafa apologises to fans

"It is a bad night for us and all we can say is sorry to the supporters. Now is not the time to point the finger or look to blame people. We win together and we lose together."

good to see he is aware of how the fans reacted

"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Yes, but in the final analysus both ties were win able but his tactics and selection was wrong. Dudek in goal in a competition that we are defending

When the game was in the balance in the FA cup tie, 2-1, he shld have sent Bellemy on to pressure the Arse backline. Did nothing, Carra fukked up and Henry scored. Defending champs out and that all she wrote.

I don't even want to get started abt the CC

        I haven't slept at all.

I think the media over reaction is laughable, but I still have to face all the morons in work today.

Whats worse? Losing 6-3 at home to Arsenal or losing 1-0 at Southend who had only won once all season and were bottom of division 1?

The apology should have been personal - because Rafa picked the team and no matter how you disect last night's embarassing debacle, ultimately the buck stops with him. You can highlight our bad luck in conceding every time Arsenal had a shot, but our defence came apart like a cheap tissue.

Arsenals young squad can leave Anfield with their confidence boosted after humiliating us twice in the space of three days - on the other hand we will have a group of young players whose confidence could have been shattered by being given such a harsh reality check. OK - so it's only the Carling Cup, but no way should we be sitting here after being twice humbled at home by an Arsenal squad who are obviously light years ahead of us. Pace, skill and intelligence were abundant in Arsenals players, we looked out of our depth - even with a handful of senior players on the pitch. Rafa chose not to react to what we could all see - you could argue that he wanted to show faith in his selection, but at what point do you admit you are wrong? Paletta was absolutely abysmal, as was the Dude (as per usual - no surprise there really, thanks for Istanbul but one match in 5 years where you made a truly telling contribution is pathetic), Aurelio gave the ball away at will and whilst Guthrie and Peltier did OK, you have to say that by comparison they aren't in the same league as many of Arsenals kids. Compare Song and Djourou with Aurelio and Paletta (two of Rafas buys for the future) - the Arsenal players looked comfortable at this level whereas our boys looked exactly that - boys!

If Rafa wanted to highlight a lack of quality and depth in our squad then last night was perfect, but that would be seriously unprofessional and I can't imagine for one minute that would be the case - however, it was an absolute disgrace to be so badly outclassed twice in three days. When you are being asked the same questions over and over again but you are still getting them wrong every time has made me think again about just what Rafas masterpaln is. Couple the two defeats with a growing list of injuries and these last few days could be the ruination of our season - were do these defeats figure in Rafa's grand scheme?

I think that there can be nothing more to gain by further analysis of last night - we will never see that LFC team again I'm sure and the quicker we forget about it and move on the better. Rafa has made quite a few mistakes in the past few seasons - that's fine as long as you learn from your errors, but when you start to repeat the same mistakes again - well, then it's time to worry. We know that the team need to improve but I would also argue that Rafa himself now needs to improve, because thses two defeats are not going to be easily forgotten.

Sounds like an appology and a warning
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I'm so glad i'm not working in Manchester as I don't think I could have kept my cool. Poor, but at least Rafa admits it (indirectly) and has aplogised. I watched it in ****e pub in Woolton (coach and Horses) , but it's better than paying £30 to watch it at the ground.
