We need a better player than him but he is better than our best left back.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

He doesn't offer much going forward and wouldn't fit in my team unless being played at centre back.Originally posted by AFII View PostWe need a better player than him but he is better than our best left back.
We need quick, technical and attacking full backs who are prepared to go up and down the flanks all match long, that's the nature of the game nowadays.

Exclusive: Neill 'can leave'
Exclusive By Andy Neild
LUCAS Neill will join Liverpool in the next seven days after Blackburn
Rovers last night reluctantly agreed to let him go.
Manager Mark Hughes attended a board meeting yesterday and it was decided
that Neill could leave the club, providing a suitable replacement is found.
Hughes wants a player-swap for the Aussie international and the man at the
top of his list is Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock, who he tried to sign
last summer.
Rovers and Liverpool must now haggle over their respective valuations of the
two players but, assuming a compromise can be reached, a deal is expected to
go through early next week.
Several other clubs, including West Ham and Newcastle, have also expressed
an interest in Neill, but Liverpool hold the trump card in Warnock, who is
seen by Hughes as a ready-made replacement.
However, the Rovers chief is also interested in a couple of other targets if
the Liverpool deal falls through, and I can confirm that he has enquired
about the availability of West Ham's Paul Konchesky.
Neill's imminent departure will finally bring an end to a saga that has been
rumbling on since this time last year.
Rovers have tried on a number of occasions to persuade the defender to sign
a new contract, but he has rejected those offers, insisting he wants a new
challenge elsewhere.
Hughes was prepared to keep the player at Blackburn until his contract runs
out at the end of the season, even if that meant losing him on a free
transfer.
But Rovers' recent upturn in fortunes, and the opportunity to get something
back for a player who cost £1 million from Millwall five and a half years
ago, has prompted the Welshman into a rethink of his strategy.
Neill may already have played his last game for the club because even if his
move doesn't go through until next week, Hughes is unlikely to risk him
against Arsenal at the weekend in case he picks up an injury.

Doesnt it seem to be the way we do our businessOriginally posted by Sir Bob View PostWe certainly need some back up for finnan and Neill is a decent enough player.
the problem is though is that we are buying him, not because he is who Rafa really wants but because he's all we can afford.
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

I'd rather take him for nothing in the summer rather than paying silly money for him now.
To be honest though, I wouldn't be arsed if we didn't sign him. Although I think he would bring a bit of steel and versitility to the defence, I don't think he would be the long term answer for us.
Having said that though, I'd still take him if the price was right and if he does come, I'll be behind him 100%.Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.
Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I would have kept Peltier as backup to Finnan till the remaining of the season. We need to give a chance to our youngsters and Peltier seems a decent player.
In the summer, we should go for Daniel Alves.

Is there anyone The Hammers are not linked with?
Skysports.com understands that West Ham United are very much in the race to sign Lucas Neill, despite the interest of Liverpool and Newcastle.
The Hammers are very keen on landing the talented Australian and are believed to be putting together a tempting package - although it would appear they still face a battle to land him.
Neill is ready to quit Ewood Park after turning down all Rovers' offers of a new contract.
West Ham could also be in the position to do a swap deal, as Blackburn have expressed an interest in Paul Konchesky.
Should Neill opt for The Hammers, then that could smooth over a Rovers deal for Konchesky.
However, Liverpool maintain their interest in the defender - who they came close to signing during August, before the transfer deadline closed, and The Reds could yet offer Stephen Warnock as part of the deal.
Warnock was strongly linked to Rovers last year and he, like Konchesky, could easily become a make-weight in a possible deal - but much will depend on Neill's choice.
Newcastle are also still looking to seal a move for Neill and their interest can also not be discounted as all three are set to mount serious offers to the player.
It is believed talks between all parties are progressing and Neill's future could be decided this weekend.
