What should have happened/What did happen

    What should of happened.

    1. Benitez should of picked his strongest squad. Why? Mainly because Liverpool are running out of chances to win anything this season. They had a golden chance to get some pride back against Arsenal. They play Watford at the weekend, no disrespect to Watford but there hardly a tough opposition, one or two players could have been put on the bench for that one.

2.Benitez should have kept the young lads for a different game. Why? I think that throwing a load of young inexperianced players into a must win knockout game is wrong. Liverpool should have started with the strongest possible squad and introduced some of the younger players as subs if things were going to plan. Maybe even play one or two, not as many as last night and not all down one side (right). I think the young players should be named as subs more, in games against the likes of Watford until the get some experiance.

3.There should of been changes made at half time. Alonso should have been on at half time not at 54 minutes.

4.Crouch should have been brought on. Bellamy was running around in circles as usual.

    What did Happen.

    1. Benitez started with a weak and inexperianced squad and as a result we were chasing a lost cause after half time. To many inexperianced players played down the right hand side. Why does he not introduce them as subs throughout the season?? I bet we wont see or hear from any of the young lads again for a while now, Its not fair on them to throw them in against Arsenal at a must win game.

    2. Alonso and Crouch were left on the bench after half time??? This made no sence at all, then to make matters worse he waits until the 54 th min to bring Alonso on but ever stranger was his decision to bring on a DEFENDER when were 5 - 1 down and leave Crouch looking like a fool on the bench. I'm sure Crouch feels great today.

    Highlight of the night.

The fans, having go to Anfield twice to see this 'game' and never giving up on them. You would not see support like it anywhere in the world.

    you'll never walk alone.

    dudek should have done better

other players should have done more

they had 7 shots on goal and scored 6

Almunia saved them twice maybe 3 times.

It was a freak game that we didnt do too badly in. Their strikers should be congratulated on a great finishing rate

I agree with Kopdan - Dudek was very weak in my opinion for a few of the goals, and he was horribly exposed by the defence on occasion. As the score ticker on Football365 said at the end of the game - 'perversely, Arsenal weren't all that good, and Liverpool weren't all that bad'

The team Rafa picked should have been more than capable of beating the Arsenal team that we faced. At one stage, I think we were 5-1 down, and the stats popped up that we'd both had 7 shots. It was a very odd game.

Onwards and upwards - still reckon we'll take Barca

Were Arsenal that much better than us?

What a strange match last night. I've never seen a team convert just about all their shots on goal. At one point a stat came up saying both sides had 7-7 shots at goal (5 on target for us and 7 on target for them and they'd banged in 5 goals to our 1!)

I thought, apart from their GK, Toure, Bapitista and Alliadiere, the rest of the Gunners were anon, esp their full backs and Wingers. Once again the difference between the sides was finishing, we had chances and if we'd put them away we'd have had a 6-6 draw!

Our defence though had more holse than a ton of Swiss cheese which made it easier for the Gunners to waltz through us.

Last night was a freak result which will take another 80yrs to repeat.

          in some departments yes

          in others....no

Would like to see their keeper in our goal for example.

I thought their front 2 played well and really took full advantage of the gaps in our Defence.
Didnt even realised they had any wingers in the match until they got subbed.
may have been a diff story if Dudek was in their goal.

What should happen now is that the squad shuld be imbued with a fierce determination never to lose like that again and shoud be prepared to defend the honour of the club at any cost.

It was, in essence, a fairly even game. It just so happens that they scored every time they went into our box and every time they had a shot on target. Shameful.

Ars were better than us in almost all areas. I was at the game - 2nd row Centenary - and the pace of their players was just amazing. They have pace all over the pitch, we do not. Each time they attacked, they looked like they could score.Thought Fabregas played well. They were simply better than us.

I know, it was crazy, it was almost as if they only scored when they could be bothered to go forward. Their first goal was just a long punt donw the middle!! should have been meat and drink for Sami and Gabby.

Well, they have pace, so they can sit back in defence and then, swoosh, out of the blocks, conterattack. This means they will have tons of space....where as our players have much less space and time.
