You can't have been watching us then in recent years in the Carling Cup. We always play similar line-ups to Tuesday. I couldn't give a flying one about "respecting the opposition". That's the kind of comment I fully expect to hear from Jimmy Hill and his chimps on Sunday on Sky.Originally posted by lfcruleus View PostTo be honest, to say no l'pool supporter would have said Lpool are a disgrace live on Sky isnt quite right, whether before the game or after i was kinda in the same mind myself. We lost a game we should have won by not respecting the opposition enough, that is disgraceful from a professional club. It got worse by playing a weak side with players out of position then making changes which were frankly bizarre.
Rafa did this 2 years ago at Burnley and was rightly slaughtered, I aint seen it as i was at the game but i suspect Jamie was angry especially after the game, If Sky had interviewed me after the game they would have got a lot worse than Disgrace.

Is there an unwritten rule that anyone who now criticises this club (however constructive and regardless of validity of reasoning) is a ar5e?
Are we that blinkered a group of fans?
I thought that this sort of attitude remained common amongst my Manure mates, and lately the Chavs?
Redknapp loves this club, shame on him for thinking we're failing on one or two fronts at them moment...FFS.
He's still with us you know.
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Really? Because his over-the-top praise for anything Chelsea-related seems to suggest otherwise.Originally posted by FatTony View PostIs there an unwritten rule that anyone who now criticises this club (however constructive and regardless of validity of reasoning) is a ar5e?

To be fair though he was the only one on Tues night who said we'd have a chance against Barca.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

This is the other thing, he has a cousin and a mate at Chavski, and he's given them praise, they're premiership champions, albeit bankrolled ,so what the big deal?
He also sings the praises of Gerrard at every chance, and believe me, when we start pushing for things, he'll be sat there smiling like a cheshire cat.
Its not just Redknapp though, everytime someone says anything negative about the club and our performances, people just result too calling them this that and the other, when most of the time theres an element of truth in their opinions.
It all reminds me of a couple of Manc mates I have, they can't accept criticism.

I think we can all accept constructive criticism, but when a former captain comes out and says we were a disgrace, I think that's going a little too far.
EDIT: and by the way, giving undue praise to his cousin just goes to show how poor he is at his job. I mean for anyone to have claimed at any point ever that Lampard was the best midfielder in the World is quite frankly laughable.Last edited by Dhav; 12-01-07, 12:03 PM.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Are you saying that a Liverpool team that concedes 6 goals against a fellow premiership (youth) team in the only domestic cup we were left in is not a disgrace?Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostI think we can all accept constructive criticism, but when a former captain comes out and says we were a disgrace, I think that's going a little too far.

At the time he said that, Redknapp was not the only person to think that about Lampard. Personally, I think he's one of the most overrated footballers in the world, but thats my opinion, maybe I'm wrong?

Jan Molby said the same on Radio Merseyside (I think) while I was driving home from the game. They were a disgrace so why shouldn't ex players or supporters be able to say that?Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostI think we can all accept constructive criticism, but when a former captain comes out and says we were a disgrace, I think that's going a little too far.RAFA! Exactly, Redknapp was happy to jump on the Lampard bandwagon, either (a) because it's his cousin or (b) because he doesn't know anything and just goes along with everyone else. Hardly a ringing endorsement of his analytical skills.Originally posted by FatTony View PostAre you saying that a Liverpool team that concedes 6 goals against a fellow premiership (youth) team in the only domestic cup we were left in is not a disgrace?

And as for the disgrace comment, how exactly is this helpful, a former Red coming out and saying it? It's sensationalist, tabloid stuff, serves no other purpose and a former player should know that. I mean would he have been happy attracting that kind of vitriol when he played in the team which lost 5-1 at Coventry?White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

No he's not - to be fair, knowing Sky, he's probably paid to make sensationalist comments like "Lampard is the best midfielder in the World" and "Liverpool were a disgrace".Originally posted by Neil Young View PostHe's not paid to be helpful though to be honest.
I just think it's disappointing that he has come out and said things like that about former colleagues and teammates. I mean he played with Fowler, Gerrard, Carragher, Hyypia etc players who were on the pitch that night. I just thought he'd show people like that and Rafa more respect. I mean I cant imagine him ever saying that about Lampard or Chelsea, eg after the Wycombe game.White liquid in a bottle = Milk
