      Absolutely.

Curbishley is just as much to blame as the chairman. Curbishley really should know better but it's the first time he's ever had real money to spend and that doesn't suit alot of managers who've always worked well on a tiny budget. Spending silly money and possibly getting relegated would spell absolute disaster for West Ham.

Check out the hammers' final 7 games of the season. If they're not well out of the relegation zone by then, they're f*cked.

my point is if the chaiman gives the manager 20 million in the window and he wants to spend 10 mill on a kid that he rates highly and believes will come of much more value, then it's the managers call, and he lives and dies with it...

          agreed

but the 10 mill is still only speculation, not been confirmed yet...

              he just turned them down...

Young snubs big money Hammers bid

Watford forward Ashley Young is believed to have turned down the chance to join West Ham after the two clubs agreed on a £9.65million deal.

After knocking back a number of offers for their star man, The Hornets had finally accepted a bid of £8million, with another £1.65million in add-ons.

The England Under 21 international has been the subject of interest from at least six clubs during the January transfer window after impressing in his first season in the top flight, and had been expected to leave Vicarage Road.

However Young is now understood to have declined to join The Hammers who are currently embroiled in a relegation dogfight with a number of clubs including Watford.

The 21-year-old has reportedly rejected the chance to even discuss personal terms at Upton Park.

His decision to snub West Ham could give further encouragement to the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa who are also known to be admirers of the livewire forward.

As much as I hate Mourinho he did hit the nail on the head when he was asked about Micah Richards. " If I want a Bentley and they ask me for £1,000,000 I will walk away because I know that it's only worth £250,000 and I'll buy a similar model for the same price."

It's no wonder that managers shop abroad these days. West Ham must be truely desperate.

He certainly has a point, but that didn't bother moaninho when he had practically unlimited kitty, now that Roman seems to have tightened the pursestrings it's all terrible and wrong.

                        £31m sheva. £24m Drobga. £24m Essien. £21m SWP

£100m. That can buy 100 Bentleys Jose.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                              Spot on Caco,

its absolutley ludicrous the amount of money English players go for. Ashley Young is a very promising talent.....but 10mill is rediculous

He is the type of player we need here, but for that money we could sign a top class international....Ribery,Alves, Huntelaar, Vicente, Maxi Rodriguez all wouldnt be far of that mark.

                              just crazy money.

so overated. Just a stand out in a poor team. Watford really need the money to start rebuilding to get back in the premiership next season.
