Thanjk you.

Liverpool built the academy yo develop LOCAL players.
End of.
no my little yellow friend, the academy was not built to "develop" local players
so they can play in the scottish premier league or the championship or anywhere else OTHER THAN THE LFC 1st TEAM
thats why mr heighway will shortly be retired/out of his job
In fairness to Heighway he could only work with the players he had. Its the scouting system that seems to be failing us.
Incidentally we did win the youth cup last season
The policies of the Academy can have the finger pointed at imo rather than the scouting
The current policy of the Academy is local recruitment and exclusivity (ie the player no matter what age can only play for a designated LFC Academy side and not his school team or in a Saturday & Sunday junior leage), according to an Echo article a few weeks ago Benitez wanted to expand the recruitment catchment area (as he believed good players outside our current catchment area where being snapped up by Bolton, Blackburn & Man City) also a local scout had argued that the current exclusivity policy was holding back players because they werent getting enough games (only 15-20 games a season). This scout / coach had suggested there is no substitute to " competitive game experience" and that the kids should be allowed to play in as many games as possible when they are aged between 10-15
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

In an ideal world all the kids that come through the academy would play in the 1st team but if they aren't good enough then they aren't good enough. Why do you think Rafa is buying 16 year old foreign kids and training them at Melwood?
I know this because my mate is a coach at the academy he scouts for the academy. It's about finding local talent for Liverpool Football Club from schools and clubs in Liverpool. If the talent in Liverpool isn't good enough then tough. We don't scout in London, Birmingham or Newcastle we scout in Liverpool. The academy is about Liverpool as a city not just the club.

And of that youth cup side at least Hobbs, Antwi, Anderson and Roque never came through the Academy but were players brought in to supplement the Youth team

nope little yellow man - its accepted that some people wont make the grade and that these lads have to be helped to maximise their individual potential but the aacademy exists TO PROVIDE 1st TEAM PLAYERS 1st and last.
what your rabbitting on about is just garnish on the meat. the academy and its staff are judged by the number of players that make the first team - it can do a fabulous job for "the community" and give young local lads great footballing careers at other clubs but thats NOT why it exists and if this is achieved but the raison-d'etre is not the the academies staff are a failure.
that is why hr heighway will very soon vacate its position. my opinion is one shared by the lfc board and mr rafa beitez

quite correct
perhaps mr pacman might wish to take note that the academy side contains a large number of young players "scouted" from a long way further afield than "local"
the academy is for the production of 1st team players for lfc

You are correct on this however is this Heighways policy or the clubs?
Again is local recruitment Heighways policy or the boards?
Heighway is the Director of the Academy thats his domain hes done it without interference from the first team coach for many years
He's basically had carte blanche to do what he wants hence the local recruitment policy
Theres scouts and local coaches who believe no matter how good a coach / Director Heighway is we are missing out on some great prospects because of his policies
Football is moving quickly Heighways ideals are for a bygone age

I agree the policy needs to change if we are going to produce more young players for our 1st team. What our doctor friend needs to realise is it's the policy that needs to change not necessarily the coaching staff.

what your doctor friend KNOWS FOR SURE is that both will change very very soon
