    Not a happy camper.

I fear we might loose him if the new owners do not change things for him.

I think he deserves a chance to run things his way.

i think rafa is spot on with his quotes in this one, particularly the one in the end about his team selection

I think that Rafa knows that if he isn't backed up then we will be a midtable team fighting for a place in the UEFA Cup and not the CL.

We can't compete in the transfer market right now.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Is there any update on the takeover. It seems to have gone very quiet
"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

This new investment cant come quick enough for me.
Benitez has come under fire for his team selection in the wake of the latest cup exit, but he's standing firm.

Always backed Rafa in the league cup and his selections. But I do feel sorry for him the way people do not understand what is going on and seem able to criticise every bad result that comes along without knowing the ins and outs.
The new investment cant come quick enough for me.
"I used Momo Sissoko in the Carling Cup against Birmingham and lost him for four months," he said.

"Last night we believe we've lost Luis for the rest of the season and Gonzalez and Warnock were injured. Steven Gerrard has a dead leg and Xabi Alonso a tight hamstring.

"What is more important? The Premiership, the Champions League or the Carling Cup?

"If Arsenal can play nine reserves and score six at Anfield, people should be asking why is this. It's not because of one game, it's because of many reasons. I picked a team with seven players from the first team last night.

Do people expect me to play Finnan every week? He has had to play in every fixture this season. The players I used were good players."

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Not that i can see, but reports of late have suggested it is very very close, mid to late this month. Could even be by the weekend.

Also, sound like we have signed that young lad James McCarthy.
"Today, for example, we are signing a young Italian keeper on loan with an option for later. We've also been working for many weeks to sign the young Scottish player James McCarthy.

"These are the deals we are doing because we want to build a squad of similar quality in the future, but without spending big money it's difficult.
Can't see Rafa saying something like that unless he was in the bag, he hates giving his hand away before anyone is signed.

The 'in the know' zico on the other site reckons the deal could be sorted as quickly as few weeks time.

I just posted this in the Daily Mail topic, along similar lines, Rafa is spot on, he hasn't been backed to buy the best young players.... The same as I've said here can be applied to young players, we don't get the right young players.

Already discussed this in another topic, that's been our problem, spending that bit more to get the right player, rather than taking gambles on spending £6m on players who may turn out to be a bargain, or even worth that would be nice in our case.

Part of it comes down to Houllier wasting so much money and spending big on the likes of Diouf and Heskey. At least you can say where Rafa has spent around the £10m mark they've been good buys, Alonso and Kuyt.

If you look at us spending £6.75m on Pennant, £6m on Crouch etc, why didn't we go that extra bit further and buy the likes of Walcott, who cost £5m down payment, possibly rising to £13m, Rafa was saying players that age aren't worth that sort of money, yes he's right, but in a few years time he could be worth more than that, and that's what it's about, taking a calculated risk and getting the right players, ifa player keeps his value or increases in value then its a good buy, obviously not taking into account age, end of contract, etc, things which show a natural depreciation.

As far as I'm concerned you've got the likes of Walcott who said he was a Liverpool fan and Aguero who said he dreamed of playing for us, why didn't we stop being so tight and take a calculated risk on these players, Rafa admitted that the likes of Pennant and Bellamy were gambles anyway.

To be honest, part of what pisses me off is we just never make signings that I would consider exciting or get excited about, like the two I've named above, I mean young players with real talent and massive potential, OK Alonso you could say, but he was already quite established. Most of what we've bought have been unknowns or already established players, we never go in for the youngsters who are the next big things because we are too tight. I mean does anyone really thing we have a chance of signing the likes of Bale or Richards etc? We just won't spend what other clubs are prepared to spend.

Have to agree here with Rafa, its good to hear the other side of the coin, things are never as simple as you'd first think.

We're skint as ar5holes, but hopefully this will soon change.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

So skint that Rafa's spent 80 million in less than three years.

                          Hmmm....

Rafa have signed players for £78.280.000 and sold for £36.625.000

That means that he have spent £41.655.000 nett or £8.335.000/window so far.
