    Our next great striker...

Where will our next great striker come from?

I know Rushie was bought in but he passed the mantle to Fowler who passed it to Owen.

There doesn't seem to be anyone who will obviously take it next. Lindfield maybe?

fingers crossed if he gets the chance, he seems a natural enough finisher.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

The problem was that it went from Rush to Aldridge to Rush to Fowler to Owen without a break; almost 20 years with a consistent 20 goal a season striker. Since Owen left we haven't had that, and without that we are not capable of winning the league.

This thread has no link to the fact that he just scored in the last ressies game. Heaven forbid.

Nah, Mellor was more of your finisher in the box. From all accounts Lindfield is a bit more mobile and scores some beauties.

Lindfield needs to have that natural goal-scoring instinct, which (bizarrely) Mellor seems to have, but vitally he needs to be mobile. If not, he wont make it at the top.

"Craig scored a superb goal and he is capable of doing that and we just wish he would do it a bit more often. He got behind the full back and it was a fantastic finish and he deserved it because he worked very hard." - Ablett

If we are talking legend type strikers then surely the Diggler could be one?

Well everyone goes on about his work rate at the minute, cause he's not getting the goals...

Funny RVN didn't do too well for the first six months either. I really think he's about to start banging them in, and we won't have to go on about his work rate...
Everyone says he was more a provider at Feyenoord, but that's only half true. He was a provider, but he also got the goals...

                        It'll come.

What has happened to Neil Mellor? Who did he sign for and what has he done since?

I presume the answer to the last question is "nothing" as I've not heard anything which just goes to prove that those of you on KT who said he should get more games and could succeed at the highest level were obviously wrong...
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

Didn't he go to Preston? Been permanently injured I think. Quelle surprise.
