    whatever happened to Jack Hobbs

I'm sure that this has been bought up before, but last year Jack Hobbs was reserve captain, played in the cup winning youth team and earlier this season, he even played in a couple of the pre season friendlies. He was not even in the squad of 16 for last night's reserve match.
Is he injured or is there some sort of problem?

Heard very little of him ever since his disastraous performance in pre-season. Still very young tho.

What about Paul Anderson? Had high hopes for this one.

Anderson's been badly out of form this year. If he was gonna make a break through, it would have been this season. If he doesn't make it next season, then expect him to be loaned out to a lower division team and then sold.

Adam Hammil has been kicking ass in the reserves - I rate this guy big time. He's double footed, can score from anywhere and has is amazingly skillfull. He's also not as lightweight as Anderson.

Nabil El Zhar is doing well too - he's supposed to be a striker but I don't expect him to score many goals but instead have many assists. He's extremely skillfull and has a fantastic cross. He's most likely to make it of the three players. But I really hope Hammil makes it.

The few times I've seen Hammill he has reminded me of Garcia. Not physically of course but he tries a lot of tricks that often don't come off. If he hadn't totally unnecessarily given the ball away in midfield in the 93rd minute then Hobbs wouldn't have scored that own goal in the Youth Cup semi against Southampton and there wouldn't have been extra time and penalties (and my feet wouldn't have fallen off thanks to the freezing weather).

It's good he's got the tricks but he needs to learn how to use them best. Some do, some don't.

I'm pleased to hear he's doing well for the Reserves.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Added bonus - He's well built and Hammil can play down either wing too. Remember Ronaldo - he had all the tricks and never did anything with them and was wasteful - had no end product. But look at the player he's developed into. I really hope this guy makes it and I think he will and he has the potential to make the same impact as Ronaldo - he's the type of player that fans pay to watch if you get what I mean (the same is true of Nabil El Zhar too).

Are Roque or Antwi making any progress?
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

No idea about Roque and Antwi. From the report of yesterdays match, Antwi is supposed to have had a good match - but I don't think he's played well in too many matches.

Roque is tall and skinny. Doesn't look like he's stong enough - but he does like to get stuck in. He's mobile and pretty quick too and I think he think he definately has a future at Liverpool.

Antwi is well developed and is very strong as he showed in last years youth cup run. But apparently he aint very football minded rather like uncle Traore and lacks positional sense.

Hasnt one of them been poached by the Spannish national underage team or something?.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

For some reason our reserves are struggling to make the step up in recent seasons. Needs addressing IMO.

Antwi was born in Ghana. God knows how, but he ended up in the youth team at Real Zaragoza. He's got a Spanish passport and has opted to play for the Spanish youth team - but he can still choose which senior team he wants to play for.

The reserve team was traditionally used to field players who are not in the first team. Basically, if you don't play on Saturday afternoon, then you'll play a reserve midweek game. Also, players returning from injury were played in reserve matches. What that means is that players of all ages and experiences would play for the reserves. But Rafa has installed a Spanish style setup at Liverpool and very rarely allows first team players to play in the Reserves. Instead, the reserve team is now like an under 21/ youth team in disguise. The majority of players in the reserve team are around 18 give or take a year.

Basically, what that means is the Liverpool reserves are playing against reserve teams who are older and more experienced. Remember Albert Luque, he/ newcastle played against our reserves and scored 2 good goals and got a hard-on - in reality its no achievement scoring a bunch of kids when you're (or were) a Spanish international

Also have our reserves have only played a few matches and rarely get a match. They've had to result to playing friendlies. I can understand why Rafa wants to create a Real Madrid B style team and allow the Liverpool reserves to play in the lower league. It will allow them to play more regularaly and speed up the players development. Never gonna happen though.
