Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum close to buy Marseille.

Sven Goran Eriksson is set to be unveiled as manager of Marseille on Friday, according to reports in the French media.

The installation of the former England manager as Marseille coach very much depends on the proposed takeover of the south coast club by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

But the Arab prince is believed to be close to sealing a deal with current owner Robert Louis-Dreyfus, and an announcement is expected over the coming days.

According to reports on French radio station RTL, Dreyfus has met with both the Sheikh and the Minister of Defence for the United Arab Emirates, and agreement has been reached for the sale of the club.

A buy-out of the former European champions will cost in the region of 300 million euros, and should the Sheikh finalise a deal, it is clear who his choice of manager will be.

Eriksson was in Dubai this week, at the invitation of the Sheikh, to watch Marseille play in the four-team Dubai Cup tournament, although he claimed he was merely there "on holiday".

The Ligue 1 side lost both of their matches, 4-3 to Bayern Munich and 3-1 to Lazio.

I don't believe DIC will be able to buy us if he buys Marseille. UEFA doesn't allow an owner to have two teams in the CL and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum owns the DIC if I remember things right.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

That's a nice feeder club to have isn't it?

That's not quite accurate is it?

DIC is the investment arm of the Dubai royal family.
Why couldn't it have been the other way around? Why would anyone buy a French football team? **** league.

According to skysports.com it is Canadian businessman Jack Kachkar who is close to buying the club.

Eurosport's a bit of a joke so I'm not going to take this story seriously.

I really hope that they got it wrong.

We will see about that tomorrow.

Nothing about this on Marseille's official site.

The deal for Astrit is worth more than £1m according to his club.

The first fee is not anywhere near £1m, it might go somewhere near or above that if he plays loads for the first team but at the minute its a few hundred thousand, if that.

With 25 coaching changes since that 1993 triumph, stability has been lacking at the club and there is now speculation that Canadian businessman Jack Kachkar is looking to buy the club for about $130 million (U.S.).

British and French newspapers report that Kachkar, CEO of a New York-based pharmaceutical company, wants to bring in former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, irritating a coaching staff already stressed from plotting how to catch runaway league leader Lyon.
