Wenger, as great as he is, won nothing between
1998 and 2002, and infamously saw his team do far worse in the
Champions League than Liverpool have been lately. Now Benítez is under
pressure after six months without a trophy?

I despise Tomkins' scattered yet elongated style and laughably over optimistic approach.

Secretly, the arrogant side of me likes to think I could do better.

But, as a fellow red, I genuinely hope he recovers from his illness soon.

          Really?

If you're going to be wrong, you may as well be wrong in style.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'd say there's an outside chance Tomkins spellchecks his work before he posts it.

                Unlike me.

                It's slack, I know.

I very rarely finish one of his articles as they are often too long and wordy, however, I also very rarely disagree with his sentiments.

He can sometimes be a little blindly optimistic at times, but sometimes we need cheering up. I thought this was a good piece.....at least the first half was, as i didn't manage to read the rest

Did United not win the league in '01?
I'm pretty sure they did meaning Arsenal only had the one charity shield between their two doubles in 98 and 02

Lets be honest in his article Tomkins voices the fealing that all the reasonable and considered fans were thinking. Not just of journalists but of the fickle knee jerking idiots who spout their 'Sack Rafa now' tripe

There's a massive gap between spluttering 'sack Rafa' and what Tomkins is saying.

                        Both are extreme views.

Okay, yes, I know where your coming from but I feel that the 'SACK RAFA NOW' brigade are a much more destructive extreme. And certainly not considered.
