    Fowler or Owen

In my opinion they were the best 2 strikers we have had since Rushy .
    My Question is this.
IF both had stayed at LFC, do you think Owen would have scored more goals & made more appearances than GOD ? OR vica versa ?
For the record I think it would be very close becasue both had major injuries and loss of form in the years past but if I had to pick one it would be Fowler.
GOD is much more than a scorer, OWEN got his speed and that is it but take nothing from him he can finish well.

What do you EST1892ers think ?

Fowler at his peak was capable of scoring ANY kind of goal – Owen wasn’t quite.

It really, REALLY annoys me how quickly people have forgotten about Fowler and how good he was. Really ****ing annoys me. He was untouchable for a while – such a shame he never truly fulfilled all that potential.

Fowler is the best finisher the Premiership has seen. I truly believe that. At his peak he was a better goalscorer than Shearer, Horseface, Henry et al. He would have been universally acclaimed as such if he stayed injury free.

I genuinely believe it too. People accuse me of wearing my red-tinted glasses but I genuinely believe it.

I’m not saying he’s the best striker the Premiership has seen ‘full stop’ – cos ultimately he didn’t fully realise his potential – but had he been as professional as Shearer then he would be untouchable.

Fowler would have broken Rushie's goalscoring record had he stayed at Pool. I believe wholy heartedly in that as well.

I wish it was Fowler AND Owen up front still. Would have broken all records and they would have learned to play together.

Never clicked for them as a pair did it. Massive shame for us, that.

Yep, just looking at his stats during his peak seasons. In 19954-95 he scored 31 goals in 57 matches, in 1995-96 he scored 36 in 53, the following season he scored 31 in 44. After that his number of appearances per season fell dramatically. BUt for those years, when he was relatively injury free, those statistics are amazing

Fowler. And it's not even close.

His last game at Anfield (probably our last home game of this season) will be very, very emotional.

Even though it's sad to see him in the shape he's in now, you can still see that touch of magic that has engraved his place into the history of this football club.

Whatever people want to say about 'unfufilled potential' to leave this special football club with the nickname of 'God' takes some doing.

                  God...I salute you.

Owen. I just look at the facts.

Owen scored in more % of the games for us than Fowler.

Fowler is the more complete striker but Owen is the better goalscorer.

Folwer would probably have played in more games but that isn't guaranteed because he wasn't a good trainer.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                      AA,
That magic was still there with his flicked back heel goal against the arse.

                        Exactly mate.

That finish against Reading in the Carling Cup earlier in the season was special too.

Even though he's 'finished' he's only scored one less goal than Bellamy this season!

                        I love the man.

                          I disagree,
how many times have we seen Owen score from 30 odd yards. How many times have we seen Owen score with cheecky back hell. How many times has Owen scored from a direct free kick. Very very minimal.
So he is not a complete striker, take his speed away and you will have a very average footballer. Fact.

I find it interesting the way Owen's career is following a similar pattern to Fowler's.

Teenage sensation, world class in his early twenties, velled off at 24 ish...

Left Liverpool.....his career was taken a spectacular nose dive.

The sharp contrast is that Liverpool fans now regard Owen with mild indifference, Robbie Fowler will forever be a hero.

Both Owen and Fowler played to many games to early in their careers IMO and that's why they ended up with a lot of injury problems.

Messi already have injury problems for example.
