all we had to play was a weak Watford side today, and then we have a week off.

we had a strong enough squad for that

We have some players that we can't replace, like Reina, Finnan, Gerrard, Alonso, Carragher and Agger.

If one of them gets injured then we would get it very difficult to finish in the top four and that's more important than winning the CC.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

he should have played a decent team against them on Tuesday.
Yes, but winning on Tuesday would mean Extra two games for SF, ensuring postponements of League games and another postponement for the Final. The Carling Cup is just not worth the Fixture congestion it creates. Watch Arsenal and Spurs in the next two months

if we were going for the league title, i whole heartedly agree with you fella.

but we're not going for the league, and i don't want to sound negative, but i don't think we are really going for the Champions league either

i think even with the added congestion, qualifying for 4th at worst should be well within our ability

A watford team what has only lost 3 home games this season, they are weak but I think the epl is priority in rafas plans and I think he'd rather give fringe players a chance for 1st team football in the carling cup than in the premiership where a mistake from a less experienced player(s) might cost us a c.l league place next year
            RIP IRWT post/rant, best ever

I still think the squads selected for the Cups should've done a lot better than they did. The players let us down. I just dont think the Cups are a priority for the players.

The FA Cup becomes a priority in the later rounds, but it didnt seem a priority on saturday for the players

If Reina would get injured then Rafa would have to play a young unexperienced goalkeeper instead.

If Alonso or Gerrard get injured then Guthrie is our best back up right now.

If Carra or Agger get injured then Hyypia would have to play week in week out.

If one of the above happens then we would get it very difficult to qualify for the CL next season and that means that Rafa will get it a lot more difficult to sign his first choice players.

if Reina got injured, i'm sure we'd recall Scott Carson.

We are still in the hunt for the league until we lose another 4 points but no matter what, succuss is measured on your final league position i for one would rather finish second than forth and win one of the two cups. As i said the finals are a great day out for the fans but the reality is they are not prestigious enough.

                      Don't care about the cups?

LFC is all about winning trophies.

Yes, the League and the Champions League. Our success is measured by the number of leagues and Champions Leagues we've won, not FA Cups and League Cups.
