Rio Ferdinand isn't ****, but he is overrated. He's not as good as Carra, Woodgate, or Ledley King. He ****s out of 50 50 balls, doesn't contest headers, has crippling lapses in concentration and above all that, is a complete **** to boot. He's a decent tackler and is composed in posession. He only gets in the England team because he's experienced and he's quick. Can't stand him though. Total ******.
And many claim he's not bad in possession as well although I haven't seen too much evidence of that.
He is a fool.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

As much as I hate to say it, Rio Ferdinand is a quality centre half, who seems to have removed the lapses of concentration as he's got older.
Not sure, he still lokked flaky last season. I think the fact he now plays with Vidic who seems to do organise the defence helps him a lot. I think a lot of his lapses came when he had to decide for himself what to do tactically.
Having said that he is a very good player and when he is combined with a powerful partnet he can be truly exceptional. I as has been pointed out before a tactical moron and a fool.

Everyone bangs on about how good he is with the ball at his feet and how good is passing is. I think his distribution is awful! The amount of mis placed passes he does in a disgrace. Especially for England when he's mean't to be some world class player at bringing the ball out, he seems to alway lose the ball and get caught out and only his speed helps him recover.

If we get the DIC money, I wouldn't have a problem with is spending 15-25m on a world class centre half, rather than a learner. Hyppia has probably given us more points (and an FA cup) than many of our forwards.
I can see us going the scum route, one large outlay per summer on one star player (if needed) plus funds for strengthening in other areas (if needed).
I would suggest wing play is more important than CH at the moment, and Sami could yet do a great job at standing in when needed for a year or more yet.

No-one would dispute his ability to stand, it's his running we're worried about.
Boom boom.

Can't we do what Michael Vaughan did and get a runner in?
Yeah, good idea! Call back Cisse from Marseille.

Rio Ferdinand's an excellent player, no doubt about but he's still vastly overrated.
